Cullen's GOTY 2011 OR why I've decided not to rank my top ten games of 2011

As you may recall, I made a blog post recalling my top ten games of this year to date at that particular time in a certain order. I've since deleted that post because I've now realised, after the quality amount of games we've gotten this year, it would be absolutely wrong to rate them in a certain way.

Rather, a top ten where they're placed in no particular order sounds right. But for clarification sake, I'd placed Skyrim initially as my game of the year. But even when I did decide to have it top my list, there were still niggling doubts.

First, there's been the issues highlighted on the PS3 version since launch. Plus, I was still debating with myself over if it should be GOTY - deserving as it would have been either way - when Batman and Uncharted 3 were still fresh in my head, and fighting it out for top spot.

So rather than rank them, I'm going to give a top ten in no particular order and an honorable mentions list.

Portal 2
Batman: Arkham City
LA Noire
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Rayman Origins
Saints Row: The Third
Daytona USA
Forza Motorsport 4

Honourable Mentions: Dark Souls, Brink, Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, F1 2011, FIFA 12, Bulletstorm, Driver: San Francisco, Crysis 2, Dragon Age II, DiRT 3, Resistance 3, Mass Effect 2 (PS3), Motorstorm Apocalypse, RAGE, Shadows of the Damned, Catherine, Bastion, Gears of War 3, WWE All Stars, inFamous 2 and LittleBigPlanet 2.

Special Mentions: Metal Gear Solid HD Collection and Team ICO Collection (if I had decided to include HD collections in my top ten, I would have added these without hesitation no problem).

There's probably some others I'm forgetting, but that's how my 2011 consisted of. Thoughts?
